I have been hitting gym for more than 3 years and I discovered that what works for one need not be same for the other. I have seen guys simply joining gym for the name sake and doing nothing. They blindly follow something which they catch upon on internet or any magazine. Doing such kind of stuffs will not really keep them fit. cardiovascular exercise will not help in quality of life. People should go on do work which will effectively go through the entire range of motion around all the joints. This can be done by cleaning the house or doing works which help you to bent the body. What is the point in doing a clinched fitness programmer, if you cant even sit for a long time.
Many people have different perspective about the fitness programmer. Some people can do a thread mill for more than 5 km but complain about having back pain. Some can lift 200lb but can't play weekend sports, just like me :). I play cricket in the weekend, I find myself tired more than usual, my muscles ache for next few days. I used to flexible during my high school, but now I find myself tough in my shins. I understood functional fitness is very important. If we look at the people in blue collar, they function more active than white collar people. The human body needs to move through all planes throughout the day. The solution can be given by including this kind of exercise in fitness programmer.
When we were kids we can jump, play and go merry around. As the age goes the muscles get tightened and fatigued very easily. It's fine to do cardio exercise and weight lifting, but it's also important to be functionally fit. So do get functionally fit by doing regular stuffs, rather than sticking with fitness programmer.
