Frozen mobile

I have noticed that cell phone doesn’t function, so well in cold. I have a smart phone Samsung galaxy s 5312, with android 4.1 running on it. The device works quiet normal, when I'm in indoors. But when I go out in the harsh Swedish weather and when I try to operate my cell phone, it behaves strange, maybe the applications freeze just like as we do. I really get frustrated when I'm trying to make calls, one thing is with the cold, it feels terrible when I can't able to reach other contacts.
