Supermarkets and their labelled products in Sweden

There are many supermarkets around Sweden to shopping, grocery items and other household stuffs. ICA Maxi, Willys, Netto, Coop Forum, City Gross, Lidl and the list go on, but there are only a few of them are the brands of Sweden and they operate in a much different way. Say for example, Ica Maci and Willys are some of the Swedish brands, who do the production and sales by considering the well fare of the ordinary citizens, which they can afford to for a least living. ICA Maxi produces their products labelled, ICA basic which looks like of the cheaper price, but they can offered by any person with less than a normal income. Similarly Willys offers Eldarado products for the fare amount. Many students, free movers and other local immigrants, who don't have much financial status can get benefit from these locally labelled brand products. These kind of labelled items are not only limited to cosmetics, food or cleaning stuffs, but to any consumer product in that shop. The motto of these products is to provide cheap products with a good quality. There is a rule in Europe, where the items before they go for sale, have to meet the least expectation of marketing standard, before they even go into products, so these kinds of products are trustworthy and reliable. Also the best things of these supermarkets are that they offer a shopping card, where the individual purchases is taken into consideration and discounts are made available with the points scored in total. Sometimes, coupons and discount vouchers are sent to the customers to get both of them benefited and few of the offers are only made available to the customers who hold the shopping card. There are other grocery shops in Sweden like axfood, which only support for bulk orders and they only support for restaurant and other hotel and food businesses. They too offer similar kind of offers to attract customers a help each other’s for good business. Apart from these things, there are many marketing strategies followed in Sweden, like delivering the weekly offers provided by each grocery store and these are made by third party companies like svensk direkt reclaim and posting.

Note: If you have any items purchased earlier or if you purchased items in the other shop and tried to enter a new supermarket, please leave the stuffs outside the shop to avoid complications and embarrassments. 

Is there any real Indian Restaurant in Sweden?

There is "NO" single real Indian restaurant in Sweden as per my knowledge. I have been in Sweden for more than four years and I have travelled places around Gothenburg, Stockholm and Malmo in Sweden. What I can find is, most of the Pakistanis and Bangladeshi running the Indian restaurant, with the name of "Indisk restauarang" or ”Indisk Mat". Pity! The same situation continues to be found down in Cph as well. Speaking about authentic Indian restaurant, it's tough to have to in Sweden. As per my experience, many of the swedes are little stereotypic in sticking to very few common food dishes like "Naan", " Chicken Butter masala", "Chicken korma", " raitha" etc and they feel very hard to try any new cuisines introduced to them in the Indian restaurants. Trust me, my friend had a bad experience in selling few of our south Indian dishes in his Indian restaurant in Halmstad, Sweden. Moreover Swedes are not used to eat much hot/spicy food; there are few exceptional ones, who would taste the same amount of spicy food, tasted by any Telugu guy in India. I knew few of the swedes compares the naan bread with the one served in other restaurants in Sweden. Actually this should not be the case, they can only judge or compare, after eating food in any of the 28 states in India. In general people should have a little knowledge, about what kind of food they eat. Talking about Indian food, there are many traditional Indian food in our country, myself from Chennai(Madras) have our own cuisines like "idli", "dosa","sambhar","vada" any many other  varieties of food, which at least 98% of the swedes would have never come across in their life. Most of these foods are supposed to be eaten by hand, which hardly any western would prefer in the first case. The restaurants in Sweden provide the food with the mix of indo-Pakistani/ Pakistani and indo-Bangladeshi/Bangladeshi. Most of these people set their business for their livelihood, rather providing the authenticity in the taste with the food and culture, which they believe to do. There won't be many years to come, where their real identity would be lime lighted to the public.

Postal Service in Sweden

The postal service in Sweden is one of the oldest postal system. As we can see the number of letters delivered exchanged within the country never drops, amidst having all the modern internet and e-mail systems. Sweden is one of the countries where paper is been used in the large number. The usage of paper work done in this country is considerably large. Therefore it is not surprise, you receive more mails to your post box, even though you haven't subscribed to many magazine stores or other organization.

Apart from the luxurious system, I faced one problem with the Swedish postal service.  Recently, I wrote a letter to the migration board, stating the change in my new address as I moved into my 90 year old house very recently. As I posted the letter to the nearby supermarket, where I usually post my letter's, it returned back to my home address in  a couple of days. Then I recollected the same mistake which I did long past ago.

When I write a letter in my home country, I generally write the "To" Address in the front side of the cover and "From" Address to the back side of the letter. I did the same writing thing here, but it seems swedes doesn't mention it in that way and that's the reason, I had a my letter back. I have to go the store again, just by cancelling the from "address field" and drop the post again.

AnnA - kitchenware of Scandinavia

I have been mad about certain cutlery for more than couple of years, I searched to find a very particular type of Scandinavian cutlery brand AnnA. The dinner fork which I used for more than years made me to get deep into the make of the product and brand type. This fork is different from that of regular steak fork or any other fork for that matter. It's unique and elegant design is it's identity to stand different from all other forks. In nordic language, they refer fork to "gaffel".

As I am familiar the product is from Denmark. I tried searching all the online stores of Scandinavia, but I ended up in a web store named harald nyborg in Denmark, where they provide cheapest range of this kind. F & H, the leading brand in Scandinavia also has the rare collection of AnnA products.

The logo is quite unsual to find in any online website, I managed to find the logo used up in few of the websites, so it's quite rare to find. They don't seems to have a website on their own. STEL KOMPAGNIET offers the collective cutley set of AnnA. I managed to pull out most of the products of AnnA for the outsiders, to know let them know about all of their products.

 

Cleaning, Shifting and moving into an apartment in Sweden.

Cleaning the apartment is one of the toughest things, as I have ever witnessed in Sweden. This is not an easy procedure which we can all finish it in an overall night. From giving away the present apartment and moving into a next apartment needs a proper planning and time management.  Most of the housing boards in Sweden, insists to issue a 3 months’ notice before  a person/family moves out of the apartment,  this become tough in case of students, whose some of their schedule can extends few weeks than their usual deadline and they suffer for extension with the apartment. Anyways, proper planning and backups will help in making such decisions. 

Shifting things and cleaning the apartment needs to be done in order wise. It’s better to shift maximum number of things before starting the cleaning session, because as you can find most of the places are quiet empty and thus will make the cleaning process easy to handle, instead of working around the corners of each table. The best way to shift is by ordering a trailer or a wagon, where one thinks where they can accommodate all their stuffs. I found a free trailer service provided by one of the company in the Sweden.  They charge only for the deposit and they will return the deposit back once the trailer is given before the deadline or hand over the trailer without any charges. 

The cleaning of the apartment needs to be planned very carefully. It can started before a week or couple of weeks, depends of the amount of cleaning basically needed for the apartment. I started doing bathroom for the first day, second day with kitchen, third day with toilet and living hall and fourth day with living rooms and the final day is doing all rooms together. The cleaning of the rooms can be repeated in schedule depends upon the weight of cleaning done to each room and time spent.  I recommend to start cleaning from the roof of the wall and proceeded by the wall and then finally to the floors. This makes the perfect cleaning routine.

Different things in the house should be cleaned in different manner and by using different kind of appropriate solutions of each thing in the home, does the finest job. For example, I use Ajax for cleaning white wood and cleaning the tiles, stainless steels, and mirror, I use different solutions.   Universal cleaning liquid solutions can be used for overall cleaning, but the effect of cleaning will not the quiet similar of one which use for the appropriate ones.  It’s better to buy things of better quality for cleaning purposes, as we all knew it’s a one time job and if it was done in better way, we can avoid a big fine amount for spending those extra pennies. The last day of the cleaning involves the floor work, as all the parts in the house is cleaned and wiped, the remains are left out the floor, and they are removed by washing and wiping the floor.

Throwing garbage should be considered seriously, many people due to their limits schedule they pile all the stuffs in a huge bag and throw in garbage. This step may be an easy way to throw away all the rubbish things from the house, but it is the inappropriate method while we consider the environment, so each and everything should be disposed accordingly to the containers which they have in the garbage room. Papers, hard plastic, metals, woods and other house hold things should be trashed in the appropriate cans. Some of the commune in Sweden are very careful with this issue and would trace out the tenant with a huge fine, if they throw inappropriate things in the garbage. 

Moving in the new apartment, definitely takes some time to settle down, but we can avoid that time in different way by saving the old things from the old house, thus we can’t prevent in buying all things and having a zero start.

Shoes and Socks size

Men are the  most civilized creatures on our planet. As the age pass by, men started walking towards the  each and every end of the planet and found many interesting things. One of his great  findings is, shoes. Throughtout the ages he has learned how to protect his legs after wearing shoes and later he found a way to wear it comfortable by finding socks. Socks are not only used for comfortable purposes but allows absorbing the sweat released in the lower body. Both shoes and socks has evolved at different periods of time and now it's been designed for each and individual purposes. They also vary in size, shape, and colour and in the fabrics which they are made off from. Shoes and socks also vary with the countries in which they are designed too.

The shoes designed are varied with their sizes in New York, Sweden and London. For Example, my US SIZE is 11; UK SIZE is 8½ while the EUROPEAN SIZE is 43. It varies depend upon their regional norms and codes. Similar to the T SHIRT (L) designed in Asia is different to the West(S), shoes size varies by each region. By taking this to the next level, certain brands are designing shoes based upon their humans wider and narrow foot. Nike named their Wide shoes as E or 2E, which I believe is the most perfect shoe size  for me rather than any shoe which offered with the same size. Similarly, socks are categorized into many types. My Socks Size would be 27 cm/11 inch for 43 size of European Shoe Size. Socks are also getting fashioned as they come up with knee socks or running socks, rather than usual socks which is worn formally.

Swedish girls

"Flicka" is the term most popular word all over the world, as it represent "girl" in Swedish language. They are considered to be the most beautiful girls in the world, at least according my stats.  Blonde hair and green or green-hazel eyes statuesque, model-like figure are the terms which I can associate with them.

Swedish girls are hyperactive and more talkative just like any other women. I would watch them talk all the day long, as it makes me equally energetic to cope with their characters. The Swedish society has given more importance to their women, so one can find them competing along with men, in all kind of occupation in Sweden.

I certainly feel, girls in Sweden outnumbered boys in their population. As I can see more girls sticking to university, library, pubs etc., but my curiosity went into to learning about stats of Swedish girls in the country. Surprisingly I found Swedish women contribute nearly half of their whole population.

Swedish girls are really crazy, when they are drunk. During weekends, at some places one can find them roaming around the street, shouting and pulling off the people who drive by - No wonder why Swedish men marries women across overseas.

I used to think, how come most of the bond girls are tall, sexy and enchanting. Then I found many Hollywood celebrities like Malin Akerman, Kirsten Dunst, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Noomi Rapace, Uma Thurman, Scarlet Johansen are all associated with Swedish background. Swedish blonde is a colour which has its trademark, from the colour of any Swedish women. Most of the girls in Sweden have blond hair.  Their unique cheek bone is something I'm gifted to identify to any Swedish women across the world.

Fashion Industry is not an exception to the Swedish beauty. Petra Silander, Victoria Silvstedt, Elsa Hosk and some more recognized girls have swayed the hearts of many men in many advertisements and magazines. I personally love to watch Swedish women's football, not for their play but for Lotta Schelin. Recently wedded princess Madeline’s is also one of the fashion icons across the continent, who took my breath away.

 

Journey to Stockholm Interview

That was a disastrous start for my formal interview in Sweden. This is my first time, I'm attending for an interview. I was dressed up in all formal. Everything is set to go according to my plan. I had already prepared my stay for the night, upon that I have prepared my lunch, had my tooth paste packed, charged my mobile upto 100%. I even shaved the night before my travel to avoid the time collapse. Everything went fine, until I finished my breakfast. Then there started a rain which seems to change my plans for the jacket which I'm supposed to wear for my travel. The rain was really deceiving my mental status to choose between the jackets. I had planned to wear a dark green jacket for the travel, but due to the rain I had rain jacket as an alternative. My plan was to leave the house by 7:30 am, as I have to walk to catch the train. The rain was very tricky, it started pouring for a second and I had to choose my raincoat for my journey. A second thought hit as the clock strikes 7:31. The drizzling of the rain stopped and suddenly I had to switch over to my old plan. I sensed the lateness with my plan as the clock started ticking. I have to rush out to my house to catch the train. The moment I realized, as I walked out of my apartment, the story of my travel changed all in a sudden. Yes! I left my mobile in the rain jacket which I chose at my second thought. That was a stupid mistake  which I haven’t done in my life. The problem is not only I’ll be out of communication to the outer world, but also I can’t even have communication to enter into my apartment, due to the lock system. I didn’t have keys to enter into my apartment, as keys got struck up with my room mates, who sleep inside. I didn’t have my laptop  with me or any public or public services to contact them.

I shouted in vain, calling for my roommate's name, but nothing I received expect a second thought of cancelling the journey. I barely waited for 4-5 minutes just by shouting, the bad thing is I couldn’t even hold the attention of my neighbours. Luckily I had my nokia phone in my bag, where it had a message of my ticket.  The last shout of mine, which was heard by a dog. Hope it understands my sitaution, but still do anything other than to bark. Earlier I had even had a hope of reaching the railway station, by the bicycle once when I get in the apartment, but all ended in a vain. I made a decision to travel thinking of traditional travel. "No mobile, No map and most importantly no communication". I assumed that it’s more like an era where the technology even existed. As the blood gushed into my vein, I started to stride across the road. I started walking with my fastest pace, having my creditless mobile on my hand to keep up with the time. I even had a thought of having a lift from a guy, but my heart didn’t pave way for it. I had an attitude that, " I should go for it". I thought of the money  which I spent for my ticket.  I thought about the interview which was set for me at Stockholm. I literally ran to cope up with the time. I ran, I ran, I ran, I sensed the situation, that I could make it as I reached more than half away. That was a moment where the rain could strike any moment from those dark clouds. I had reached the train station even 10 minutes earlier, before my departure. I slowed down a bit and removed the jacket to let me cool down for a while, as I strided. I came into the train refreshed myself for a minute in the washroom, still I had the tempo running in my body.

I started my journey without any phone contacts, without any address details of the venue. I just had my old reading of the maps in my mind. My dreams of checking in at places through mobile  have been collapsed, but the hope of having a good interview, with the experience, made me to push through.

Nature as a part of home

Usually people wanted to have the same environment, every time when they visit the same place every time. Because they don't want to loose their memories in the place, where they lived earlier. I hope the same follows with the most parts of scandinavia, as the places remain same after years to come. I would like to compare with two of the places, where I live in Scandinavia. The residence in Esbjerg, Denmark is so cool, it's very close to the highway. Similarly, the residence in Halmstad is very close to highway. Both the places have one thing in common, trees. They are surrounded by an enormous amount of tree, sometimes it makes me to forget that I live close by a highway. The place also sounds quiet, when it comes as if we are living in the amidst of the forest area.

The three circles

There are three categories of people, with whom one can involve while a student like me come abroad and study. Say for example, being a foreigner, I couldn’t able to differentiate the real swede or any other European people, because mostly all of them looked similar with the way talked and with the way the move around people. After learning the language, I could able to differentiate the breed or what kind of category they belongs to.

In the Swedish Universities, one can find variety of people, doing their schooling. For Example, there are lots of Swedish people who do courses along with the free movers or international students. It should be little difficult for the outsiders to differentiate the real swede, until they speak their language. Any way’s the point which I wanted to emphasize is there are three of circles one can meet in the study place.

 

The first circle belongs to the native students. They live independently, just like other swedes. While the Europeans and the other outsiders are given second preference, as they spend few months or couple of years study and move away. Even though, the Europeans come outside to study they eventually try to make out their time for some serious study and fun, while the Asian or Middle East category people, and find themselves busier with computers and work.  So accordingly the Europeans fall under second circle, while the rest come under third circle.

 

Disadvantages of not activating the P- Number in Sweden

P Number or Person Number is very much important if you are in Sweden. Even though, if you have the person number, it remains useless, unless it's activated. There are certain for the P Number to get activated in Sweden. The person should hold at least one year of resident permit, to extend their p number. Even though, they have 9 months or 10 months of residence permit, it remains useless. This P Number is usually issued by the Commune, which we reside. The basic thing to get the P Number is one address, which says that you are registered to that following address.

Even though, you live in the same address, after your extension and if your residence permit is issued 9 or 10 months, it still remains invalid. Also it depends upon the officer, who is handling the case in the tax office.

 Disadvantages of not activating the P- Number.

Most of the online things work here only if the P Number is activated. You cannot take a bus ticket via sms, through your mobile phone, even though you have enough credits on your mobile.

You can have your bank account, as before, but you can't have the e-legitimation. To activate this stuff, you should have had your P Number activated. Apart from that, you can do all the normal things like online banking, credit cards etc., but we can't able to register for certain websites, which prompts for Bank ID.

The worst thing one could face is the hospital service through online. Even though, we enjoy the formalities provided with cheap medical check at the hospital. We can't submit our information to the website, to get any newsletter or anything.

Similar case, works with library. We can enjoy all the rights, provided by them, when we visit them online, but through internet is going to be tough drama.

Viewing Life with hope and other circumstances

Few things in life give them a complete satisfaction, while for few it's just another thing. Even the dot and the remarks given to the document for the foreigner, but we can't expect the same from the native. This kind of reluctance might get them to defeat, as they would not take as serious in all the circumstances. The things which surprise them would be a big thing for them, and the other rest would be just another routine happenings.

In life, you get bored with something and you look for a new place to settle. The place selected maybe wealthy enough, but will they give the same amount of happiness which we get from the homeland. There are certain things which can be enjoyed without fear or with courage. Even though the foreign land provides all kinds of advantages, people lack their basic habituations where they would have experienced life, throughout from their childhood. On the other hand, people have to hold the hope and work until the last moment, without expecting the results. The focus should be on the current things, which they concentrate upon. Time changes as it might bring stroke of luck at some moment. 

While looking after certain years, they would speak their experiences, they mention about the steps which they followed, the choices they have made to accomplish targets.  For some life would be lavish, for some it’s burden from the beginning, it’s the human responsibility to think and act. Everyone has their sorrows and happiness. The balance is the output of one’s own expectations. One who expects more, have to work hard in all to achieve it.

Study and work in Scandinavia

In my opinion on the Scandinavian life. I would definitely encourage the people to have their studies in Sweden. Education over here is simply superb. I have learnt to love for my thesis. This infrastructure and the environment made to stay focus on my study.
Before you come to Sweden for studies, make sure what stream or whats your field of interest with futuristic goals. Cos, I knew learning something "new" would end up in the consuming lot of time. My better advice is to choose the right course in right university.
Search for top 10 universities in Sweden and apply for it. The chances of getting up is likely more higher than selecting your course in some random universities. Moreover the universities rank level, will fetch you extra credits for your danish green card points.

For Jobs:
Try to come here, after having at-least 2-3 years of job experience in your field. The job skills which they look here is more professional. You have to really mastered in what you study. Hope you know the ECTS system, they would expect minimum 5 ECTS for selecting your documents for job application.

I feel, language and contacts play a major role in getting job here. I also wanted to say you swedes are reserved in their characters.

It's more like sweden, only differs by language and little bit of political stuffs. cph people can understand the southern sweden accent, in that way, I dnt have any problem in understanding them.
I still advice you to learn danish, if you really looking for quick good professorial job. It's tougher than Swedish. I have 5 months experience of danish language and you know what, I felt very hard to pronounce and listen to those words.. anyways' little interest and determination to learn the language, definitely pave way for it.. For sure, It would take more than a year to speak it. minimum 5-6 months, if they are good in language

What I have seen in denmark is, people coming from india, staying in cph, trying to apply for professional job, eventually they end up in part time jobs (hard) to capitalize their finance. They start these hard jobs as a part time and it becomes a full time due to their time..
ONLY 10 in 1 are ending up in professional job, as far as I have seen. But if you could stay there for long time and trying to make contacts, you could end up in good job maybe after 1 or 2 or even in the worst case 3 years, by the time your visa have been ended.

I knew a guy who was teaching students in maldives, coming here and working in a shop(black job).
other guy who have the green card, working in hotel for staff keeping, for no surprise it's a white job and he sticked to it, later he called one of this other friend to the same work. Interestingly this guy did his master's(Embedded) in sweden.

So this is how it works, people work in paper distribution(white and black), Restaurants( white and black), fruit shop(w n b), kebab shop(w n b). These jobs are easy for the people who can't speak danish. So you understand their situation for language.

It all depends upon payment, the software guys get the same pay as the one who works in commune paper distribution, so people tries to stick to it, just by getting satisfied with the pays.. There is no future with their 18 years education..

at least in our countries ppl end up in some software companies with their engineering background, but here it's completely different.

I dnt know how's the case in UK and other european countries, but here in nordic countries, this is the case.. My advice will be, whatever or however it may be, if you are going for it.. just do things in a professional way to get job, without loosing any hope.. learn the language, master your skills with programming or whatever job prerequisite, One day or the other you will definitely end in the highest tax paying countries.

One more thing, which keeps haunting in my mind these days is, do we really need to come abroad to do hard jobs are some other random jobs, while we got ample of opportunities in our home country.. If that's the case, that year of education’s meaningless... May be it takes 1 or 2 years to get settled with a job, but it won't be a big issue, if we have little patience. I do believe about luck, because it has favored me in many occasions, but upon that, our hard work, belief and our basic human character, determines what we are and where we stand. Trying to live in western countries may be the list in our comfort zone, but on the other hand, it's really hard if we imagine our parents and loved ones living 10,000 kmph away. That’s something we will miss for sure. As an example, think of the son/daughter, who leaves home for few years/permanently, definitely, its goanna be tough for their parents, they don’t want to miss them, and even they were given ransom, that's the case.
Initially it took one year for me to understand the life of Swedes and 6 more months for the student’s life and one year for the language with immigrant’s life w/wo Swedes, upon that one year time for learning professional and hard jobs. In-between relationship with females, trust with friends, travel around places, examining food, culture, fashion took 4 years of my life in Scandinavia to meet the Swedes standards and still counting on it.
Any way’s these were something, I wanted to make a point. You are a master graduate, with your age as an experience; you have your own ways of judging things and taking actions. As long as you willing to work hard, without losing hopes, you will succeed.

jag kan se en kvinna som bakar bröd på kvällen klockan halv åtta.
Hon blandar också mjölk och vatten för att baka.

Jag se kan en gammal kvinna som tittar på t.v och hon försöker byta till ett annat program. Klockan är halv elva. hon tänker stänga av tvn och sova nu, eftersom hon måste vaknar tidigt.

Jag kan se en pojka som stannar i en butik och köper godis. Han betalar lite pengar till kund service och hämtar lite godis. Han är inte nöjd för fynden.

jag kan se en gammal man som springer till busstation. Han vill inte missa bussen. Han måste vänta en halv timme för en annan buss.

Jag kan se en pojke som talar i telefon. Han är väldigt glad att tala med sin kamrat efter en lång tid. De planerar att träffa varandra på helgen.

Jag kan se en gammal kvinna som stickar en klänning till sig. Hon tänker " VINTERN ÄR KOMMER SNART",  så hon behöver nya kläder för vintern. Hon sitter i fåtöljer lång tid varje dag och stickar.

I can see an old woman watching TV and she tries to switch to another program. It is half past eleven. she intends to turn off the TV and go to sleep now, because she has to wake up early.

I can see a boy who stays in a store and buy candy. He pays some money to the customer service and get some candy. He is not satisfied for the findings.

I can see an old man who runs to the bus station. He does not want to miss the bus. He had to wait half an hour for another bus.

I can see a boy talking on the phone. He is very happy to talk with his companion after a long time. They plan to meet each other on the weekend.


I can see an old woman knitting a dress for themselves. She thinks "WINTER IS COMING SOON", so she needs new clothes for winter. She sits in thechair a long time every day and knits
